EL PASO, Texas (AP) -

A West Texas judge has denied a reduction in bond for the father of a baby whose body was found buried in the New Mexico desert.

Jeffrey Farrey is being held in El Paso on a $1.5 million bond. His lawyer, Joe Spencer, had requested at a hearing Tuesday that it be reduced to $50,000.
The 22-year-old Farrey and his 20-year-old wife Jenna were taken into custody last month in Michigan after being reported missing from their home. They were found with their 19-month-old son.
Spencer said he expects an autopsy to show the 5-month-old child died of malnutrition and that no physical harm was done.
Prosecutors say when the infant died the Farreys buried him in Orogrande, N.M. Jeffrey Farrey is charged with injury to a child by omission.
