SWEETWATER, Texas -

Fast developing thunderstorms moving through the Big Country produced high winds that have caused damage.

A storm that swept through Sweetwater right around 5 p.m. Thursday destroyed a home at the corner of Coke Street and Louisiana Avenue south of Interstate 20.

A spokesperson with the National Weather Service in San Angelo says the damage was probably caused by straight line winds.

Three people lived in the house but were not home at the time.  No one was injured.

Other areas also had damage from Thursday's storms.  In Jones County, a home in Hawley had metal roof sections blown off by severe thunderstorm winds.   A farm equipment storage shed located southwest of Anson had large sections of the roof and walls blown down.

In Stonewall County, lightning was the apparent cause of a fire in two salt water tanks located about five miles south of Aspermont.
