ABILENE, Texas -

The husband of a missing Comanche County woman has been charged with murder.

Michael "Mike" Logan Lowery, the 34-year-old husband of Amber Lowery, was arrested last night in connection with her disappearance, her brother and the Brown County Sheriff's Department has confirmed.

Mike Lowery has been released to Comanche authorities and transported to Comanche County, according to Brown County Jail records. His bond has been set at $1 million.

Ryan Christensen, Amber Lowery's brother, said he received a call from the Comanche County Sheriff's Office late Tuesday night, notifying him that his sister's husband -- who is 6-foot-5 and weighs 240 pounds -- had been taken into custody.

Christiansen said officers told him that they had arrested Mike Lowery on murder charges of Amber Lowery, 34, following the discovery of incriminating evidence. Christiansen was also told a search for Amber's body will begin Wednesday.

The Comanche County Sheriff's Department said a news release will be issued regarding the alleged murder sometime Wednesday.

According to the Brownwood Bulletin, Comanche County Sheriff's investigator Ken Maltby arrested Lowery late Tuesday night "in the hallway of the Brown County Sheriff's Office."

Amber Lowery was reported missing on the night of July 23. Her 2011 Honda CR-V was found abandoned over the weekend.

After her disappearance, Mike Lowery spoke with KTXS and expressed concern.

"My mind's been in 18 different directions ever since this started," Mike Lowery said. "We're all stressed and not getting sleep, and worried and concerned and everything you would be when you don't know where your loved one's at."

At that time, Mike Lowery said he had no idea where his wife was headed when she left, but believed she went to meet friends. No specific information was shared.

Amber Lowery was last seen driving a silver 2011 Honda CRV. The vehicle was found abandoned in Rising Star on Saturday. Her husband said the Comanche County Sheriff's Office searched her car on Monday for evidence that could help with this ongoing investigation.

"Any help we could get to locate her is greatly appreciated," Mike Lowery told KTXS.

Amber Lowery worked at Brownwood Air Evac for about a year before she left on maternity leave.
