Encouraging new numbers are out for home sellers.
The Texas Association of Realtors released their first quarterly housing report for 2013.
In summary, the numbers from the association suggest prices are rising and available homes are selling faster. Association leaders say it's due to Texas' job growth causing an increase in the population.
According to the report, 53,937 homes were sold in Texas during the first three months of 2013 -- a 17.53 percent increase from the same time period in 2012.
According to the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University in Abilene, 428 homes were sold so far this year -- an increase of 4.64 percent over this same period last year.
The center says the average price of a home in Abilene is $122,109.
