19th Annual Brownwood Business Showcase
BROWNWOOD, Texas -

The 19th annual Brownwood Business Showcase was beneficial for both vendors and visitors.

It was an opportunity for local businesses in the Brownwood and Early area to share their services with the public, while people who attended the showcase got a lot of freebies and chances to win prize giveaways.

"It's just getting your name out there and letting people know about you," Melissa Mauricio said. Mauricio has worked at Demand Staff, Inc., an employment service business which helps match people with potential jobs, for eight years.

However, people didn't have to be looking for jobs to having a good time. Sandra Johnson said she comes to the showcase every single year.

"It's something to do. It's a fun thing to do in Brownwood, especially for senior citizens," Johnson said.

Even kids seemed to enjoy this event. 10-year-old Emily Beene said she liked getting free candy. "You get to collect a whole bunch of stuff that's here and you get to see all the stuff that's in Brownwood," Beene said.

Speaking of goodies, this was the seventh year the Taste of Brownwood was held at the showcase. The public got to try samples from local restaurants as well as other types of vendors.

The event coordinator Missi Malone said the purpose of the event is to encourage folks to shop local and to learn more about local businesses.

The Brownwood Business Showcase, which was held in the Brownwood Coliseum, was presented by the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce and KTXS-TV. This year's theme was "Hunting for Success".
