'Mookie Fest' raises money for 5-year cancer patient
12 music bands performed at Billiards Backroom in Abilene until early Sunday morning.
The 2nd Annual "Mookie Fest" happened throughout the day. The bands helped raise money for local people with soaring medical costs who are also suffering from the financial burden.
People who came to support danced and enjoyed good music. Face painting, games and raffles were provided for the kids.
This year all the proceeds from Mookie Fest went to support 5-year cancer patient Mila Brewster.
"I have a son that's 16," Abilene resident Brewster said. "It's tough and scary, but I've got a lot of support and my doctor's great here, right here in Texas. I'm excited. They're making a lot of breakthroughs."
Saturday afternoon, "Mookie Fest" had already raised around $1,500 for Brewster.
