Off-duty deputy shoots Houston hit-and-run driver
(AP) - Houston police say an off-duty deputy has fired his weapon at a hit-and-run driver after the two had a verbal spat following a minor accident.
The Houston Chronicle reports the reserve deputy was in uniform in his personal car when the accident occurred in southwest Houston. The deputy and the other man, who was driving an orange sedan, argued. Police say when the deputy got out of his car, the other driver hit him. Police investigators say the deputy then fired his weapon at the car.
Police say the driver fled the scene, apparently unharmed. The deputy, whose name has not been released, had minor injuries.
Police say they are looking for the driver, and will charge him with aggravated assault against a public servant.
