HOUSTON (AP) -

Retail gasoline prices across Texas continue to fall.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the statewide average price at the pump fell 4 cents to $3.16 per gallon. It dropped by 8 cents the prior week. Over the course of the last year, the average price in Texas has fallen by 38 cents.

Motorists in Amarillo and Austin are paying the most in the state, with the price at $3.20, while those in Fort Worth are paying the least at $3.11.

The average price nationally stood at $3.38.

The most expensive gasoline in the nation can be found in Hawaii at $4.25, and the lowest in South Carolina at $3.09.

Sufficient gas supplies, a lower demand for fuel and the move to cheaper winter-blend gasoline production are reasons for the drop.
