Eastland County
RANGER, Texas -

A ruptured pipeline in Ranger late Monday prompted the evacuation of several homeowners.

According to the Ranger Fire Department, a failed gas line in a new compressor station is what caused the station to catch fire just before 11 p.m. Monday.

Fox says that six to eight people had to be evacuated as a precaution.

The fire occurred on County Road 471 just north of Ranger High School.

Firefighters from Ranger, Eastland, and Olden helped fight the fire.

Fox said flames reached 100 feet in the air.

People were allowed to go back to their homes about an hour after they were evacuated.
