From the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office:
10/04 1:05 p.m. – Disturbance reported at a residence on Main Street in Trent. A female known to calling party had supposedly been assaulted by her husband. Officers contacted the woman and her husband. Injuries were observed by officers, but both parties claimed the incident began as “horse play” that turned violent. When officers told them due to the injuries a report would be taken, the male subject advised further questions could be directed to his attorney.
At approximately 3:23 PM, a "disturbance in progress" call was received from the female at the residence, who stated a known male had assaulted her. Officers were told that two males came to the residence, assaulted the husband, and "body slammed" the woman. The suspects left prior to officers arriving, but were spotted by a Tye police officer near FM-600 and Interstate 20 in Abilene.
One of the suspects, Kevin Thomas Smith, 27, of Abilene, was the original calling party. He was arrested and charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault, and is being held in the Taylor County Jail under a $30,000 bond. Also arrested was Christopher Pyle, 21, of Abilene, who was charged with felony assault and in being held under a $25,000 bond.
