ABILENE, Texas -

July is already one for the record books as we see some of the coolest summer mornings in decades.

We don't usually use the words “cool” and “July” in the same sentence in the Big Country, but we've seen record-breaking cool weather so far this month.

Abilene set the record Tuesday (July 2, 2013) – at 57 degrees –  breaking the previous record of 62 degrees set in 1908.

San Angelo's morning low Tuesday of 59, beat 2008's record of 63 degrees.

Wednesday (July 3, 2012) would be no different.

Abilene cooled to 60 degrees during the early morning hours. This beat out the old record of 62 degrees set in 1924.

San Angelo continued its cool streak as well, with morning temperatures falling to 57 degrees. This nudged out 1924's record of 58 degrees.

Warmer temperatures are on the way with highs expected to warm into the upper 90s by next week. Nighttime lows will only cool into the upper 60s and low 70s.
