AUSTIN, Texas -

(AP) - New revisions to a major water bill calls for ousting the six-member Texas Water Development Board and the agency's top official before the state embarks on a new $2 billion water fund.
The revamped bill, obtained by The Associated Press, will be returned to the House and Senate with just one week left in the legislative session. If approved by both chambers, Gov. Rick Perry would appoint a full-time, three-person board to replace the six part-time members currently serving.
A historic Texas drought has caused lawmakers to address water with new urgency.
The state water board has been criticized as inefficient and slow to prioritize.
The overhaul would only take effect if Texas voters in November approve creating the $2 billion fund.
