NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -

(AP) - Texas sheriff's deputies have fatally shot a teenage boy carrying a knife.

Guadalupe County Sheriff Arnold Zwicke told the San Antonio Express-News Friday (http://bit.ly/15QS04f ) that a 16-year-old boy approached two of his deputies aggressively with a knife and was shot by both them.

Zwicke said a family member had called authorities Friday evening reporting that the boy was suicidal.

The deputies were placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of an investigation by the Texas Rangers, which is standard in law enforcement shootings.

The boy's name had not been released.
