AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The Texas Department of Transportation is joining the battle to make some of the worst toll-road deadbeats pay up.
The Austin American-Statesman (http://bit.ly/1fNvoWZ) reports TxDOT plans to partner with law enforcement agencies to impound vehicles of those who've run up at least 100 violations within a year but still drive the tollways.
The proposal faces final approval next week from the Texas Transportation Commission.
A Williamson County constable's office in Round Rock is the only law enforcement agency so far to sign a contract with TxDOT. Spokeswoman Veronica Beyer says TxDOT will pursue contracts with other agencies.
