DALLAS (AP) -

Utility officials say nearly 15,000 homes and businesses have lost electricity after tornadoes swept through North Texas and left at least six people dead.

Dallas-based Oncor on Thursday had almost 14,300 customers without power as crews worked to restore service.

United Cooperative Services at the height of the storms Wednesday night reported about 4,000 outages.

That number dwindled to several hundred Thursday with the hardest hit areas being Granbury and the Cleburne area. Tornadoes went through both cities - with six people killed in the Granbury twister.

United Cooperative Services says more than 100 utility poles were toppled by the severe weather.
