Revised Cisco curfew ordinance moves forward

The Cisco City Council voted to approve the first reading of a new version of the city’s nighttime curfew ordinance.
The ordinance was revised after many people spoke out publicly against the inclusion of a daytime curfew that would have made it illegal for schoolchildren to be out of school between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays.
"It is a good ordinance because it helps law enforcement to be able to do their job proper and the kids that are really the obedient kids it's not going to affect them, but the ones that are disobedient it will help them I think behave a lot more," said Chelsie Dunlap, who is in favor of the curfew.
The new curfew would require kids ages 6 to 16 to be home between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weeknights and midnight to 6 a.m. weekends. There are exceptions to the curfew including being accompanied by a parent or guardian, going to approved activities, and traveling to and from work.
