ODESSA, Texas -

Lyndi Smith had a pair of hits and drove in three runs in the nightcap of a non-conference softball doubleheader to lead the ACU Wildcats to a sweep of Texas-Permian Basin at Falcon Field.

ACU won the second game of the twinbill, 10-1, in five innings, following a 3-2 win in the first game of the doubleheader.

The two wins push ACU's record to 18-14, while the Falcons fall to 8-22.  ACU will return to Lone Star Conference action this weekend at home against Tarleton State.

In the second game, ACU scored a single run in the first followed by four runs in the second, one more in the fourth and four more in the fifth to win the game on the eight-run rule.

In the four-run second inning, ACU took advantage of a pair of UTPB errors to score three runs and scored another on Keanna Winkfield's RBI fielder's choice.

Smith hit a two-out, solo home run in the fourth inning to make it a 6-0 game.  In the fifth, Anna Jones tripled and scored on an error, and later Smith singled through the right side to drive in a pair of runs to make it 10-0.

The win went to Peyton Mosley, who went all five innings, giving up just three hits and striking out two batters to run her record to 3-5 on the season.

ACU survived a seventh-inning rally to edge the Falcons in game one, 3-2. Senior Shelby Hall entered the final frame holding a 3-0 lead, but gave up base hits to three of the first four batters followed by a wild pitch that made it a 3-2 game.

Hall retired one more batter before being lifted in favor of senior Caitlyn Crain, who ended the game with a strike out No. 3 hitter Nikki Brailsford with two runners in scoring position.

Hall gave up eight hits over 6.2 innings with one strikeout and no walks.

ACU scored one run in the first and two in the fifth against Falcon starter Desiree Valero. Winkfield walked to lead off the game and scored the Wildcats' first run on Smith's ground ball to first. In the fifth, Taylor Fitzgerald came home on Sara Vaughn's fielder's choice RBI and then Winkfield drove in the game-winner on a single back up the middle.
