ABILENE, Texas -

McMurry University's new head football coach, Mason Miller, has introduced his first class of recruits, who have committed to join the War Hawks' program in the Fall of 2013.

“With only a handful of seniors last year, We are very fortunate to have many returning players who saw lots of action last season,” said Miller. “Between them and the redshirt players from last season, we were really able to focus our recruiting and bring in the players to fill voids we identified as a staff. We were able to keep a couple (scholarships) back to see where we are after spring practice.

“I believe we brought in an entire class of what I consider to be our 'prototype' football recruit at McMurry:  Good classroom work ethic, a solid individual inside, outstanding football skills and a desire to keep improving in all those areas.” I am very proud of this class, they will do great things at our University.

The list of incoming War Hawks includes:

Last season, McMurry finished the year 8-3 and won the inaugural C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl. McM also defeated the University of Mexico in an exhibition game. It was the team's third-consecutive winning campaign. In its 87-year football history, the McMurry program has had four-straight winning seasons just one other time.  Between 1977-80, McM accomplished the feat behind the efforts of then-head coach Spud Aldridge.

Miller will officially unveil his 2013 team in the season-opening game on September 7 versus cross-town rival Abilene Christian University.
