The McMurry University men's soccer team will compete in post season play when it travels to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the NCCAA Central Region Tournament on Thursday, November 15th.

McMurry, the #4 seed in the regional tournament, will face a familiar foe in the first round, as they will take on the #5 seed Patriots of Dallas Baptist University. The War Hawks enter the contest with a 7-11 record, while the Patriots ended their season 4-12-1.

For McMurry, defense has been a key all season, allowing opponents to score more than two goals just three times. This year's program, anchored by All-Heartland Conference second-team performer, Tyler Tarango, and keeper Neil O'Sullivan, allowed 24 fewer goals this season than just a year ago, while recording three shutouts.

For DBU, the Patriots were outscored 31-14 over the course of the regular season while being shutout eight times in their first year as a program.

Offensively, the War Hawks were led by James Ness who collected six goals and 12 points on the season. Desmond Williams notched three goals on the year while Juan Isacura and Sam Black scored two goals apiece in the regular season. The leading assist man for McM was Jordan Miller, who totaled four.

The Patriots were led offensively by David Balyeat's five goals. He was joined by Landon Lacy (4) and Matthew Steffens (3) as the only DBU players to have multiple goals on the season.

The War Hawks swept the season series with Dallas Baptist, winning 2-1 in double overtime on September 20 in Dallas and 1-0 at home on October 18. In the 2-1 victory, Williams totaled both goals in the contest, including the game winner in double-OT. In the 1-0 win, it was Cody Gentry that gave McMurry the spark it needed with the lone goal of the game.

The contest will be played on the campus of Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City at noon on Thursday. The winner of the contest will move on to compete against the #1 seed, and host, MACU on Friday, November 16th at 2:30, with the victor of that game going to the regional championship game.
