The NHL will meet with its players Friday for the first time since the lockout began.

It was reported Tuesday that the two sides will get together Friday for a bargaining session on a new collective bargaining agreement at a site to be determined. NHL deputy commissioner Billy Daly and NHL Players Association special counsel Steve Fehr met Tuesday and scheduled the meeting.

The lockout is now in its 10th day. The two sides haven’t met since Sept. 12, three days before the lockout began.

The two sides are at odds on economic issues. The NHL is seeking to reduce the players’ share of revenues. The players aren’t willing to give up salary.

With the teams not in training camp, preseason games are canceled through Sept. 30.
