Abilene Christian defeats Arlington Baptist 80-66
Parker Wentz scored 24 points and Michael Grant added 17 as Abilene Christian moved past Arlington Baptist 80-66 on Tuesday night.
The Wildcats (10-17) shot 49.1 percent from the field and went 9 of 19 from beyond the arc. Julian Edmonson scored 16 points and Austin Cooke had 11 with eight rebounds.
Arlington Baptist, which is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), was held to 37 percent shooting and committed 18 turnovers. Raphael Garcia finished with 22 points and Jeremiah Ford had 12.
The Patriots led by five late in the first half after two 3-pointers and a jumper by Garcia. But Abilene Christian responded with a 20-6 surge, fueled by two 3-pointers from Cooke, to take a 45-36 halftime advantage.
Arlington Baptist fought back to pull within four with 3:08 remaining, but the Wildcats closed with a 14-4 run for the final margin.
