As part of its transition to NCAA Division I athletics and the Southland Conference, ACU announced Wednesday that it is leaving Townsquare Media Group and has signed a multi-year agreement with Cumulus Broadcasting to air all Wildcat athletics games on the radio.
All ACU athletics contests will be broadcast on Sports Radio 98.1 FM The Ticket as part of the two-year agreement between ACU and Cumulus. In addition, all ACU football broadcasts will be carried on KBXD 1480 AM, a 50,000-watt station in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex.
"This is very exciting news for ACU athletics," said John Houser, ACU's assistant director of athletics for marketing and operations. "Our partnership with Cumulus Broadcasting will position ACU athletics on the premier sports station in the Big Country for all of our games during the 2013-14 season. We look forward to this new partnership as we step forward into NCAA Division I athletics.
"We also look forward to our partnership with KBXD 1480 AM in Dallas, which will carry all 11 of our football games this fall," Houser said. "With the high percentage of ACU alumni in the metroplex, we felt it was very important for us to have a station in the Dallas marketplace as we move into Division I athletics. We are very excited to bring KBXD 1480 AM on as a partner with us for the 2013 football season and are excited at the opportunity to work with one of the premier Christian stations in the Metroplex."
Last year ACU broadcast more 75 athletics broadcasts over the airwaves, and that number will likely increase during the 2013-14 athletics year and beyond.
"Cumulus Broadcasting is extremely pleased and excited to be the flagship station for ACU athletics," said Ronnie Baird, vice president for sales at Cumulus. "We are very fortunate to be their radio partner as the Wildcats begin the transition to NCAA Division I athletics. We look forward to a long and successful partnership."
