UPDATE: Art Briles' brother, Edward Briles, passes away from head injury

ABILENE, Texas -

The older brother of Baylor football coach Art Briles died from a head injury on Wednesday.

According to Waco ABC affiliate KXXV, Baylor Athletics confirmed Edward Briles died at an Abilene Hospital.

KTXS Sports obtained this statement released by KXXV, Baylor Athletic Director Ian McCaw  today. Here's what he said,

"Our deepest condolences go out on behalf of Baylor Nation to the Briles family following the loss of Coach Art Briles' older brother Eddie earlier today. We've seen an immediate and overwhelming outpouring of love and sympathy. We ask Baylor Nation to support Coach Briles and his family by respecting their privacy as they mourn their loss."

According to an article on ESPN.com, Edward, who appeared on College Game Day just last week, died after falling into the bathroom of his home on Tuesday. "Eddie" Briles was reportedly taken off a ventilator on Wednesday.
