However, it was a day a record would fall.
Senior and Abilene native Kasi Conners notched a game-high 11 blocks and sits atop the McMurry all-time blocks list with 507.
“I am very proud of Kasi! She is a very dynamic player and is so much fun to watch at the net. Kasi has worked hard over the past four years to become the best blocker in the history of our program,” McM volleyball coach Cammie Petree said. “She's already broken the record and the season is still young, so there's no telling how much higher she's going to set the bar for future defenders.”
Conners’ is excited to have her name associated with some of the best defenders in War Hawks’ history.
“I am so excited and blessed to have my name in the record books!” Conners said. “I’m on cloud nine and couldn’t ask for a better team to celebrate this accomplishment with.”
Conners’ played a key role on the offense, too. She helped out with nine kills and had a match-high .421 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Taylor Seaton (Big Springs, Texas/Big Springs HS) had a team-high 12 kills and Kayla Hines (Robinson, Texas / Robinson HS) chipped in 10 kills.
Senior Peyton Evans (Riverton, Utah/Western Texas College) helped out with six kills to along with 25 assists and 17 digs.
