Cowboys Fall To Trinity, 2-1

ABILENE, Texas -

Freshman Rowan Meyer put Hardin-Simmons’ men’s soccer team on the board in the 31st minute, but Trinity responded with a pair of goals and a 2-1 on Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.

Meyer scored on an assist from Laurent Maksoud.

Trinity tied the game at the 43:14 mark on a Goncalo Santana goal assisted by Victor Araujo. Uri Riberio scored for Trinity in the 65th minute.

Michael Vargas had three saves for the Cowboys in goal.

Trinity outshot the Cowboys 10-6 and 5-1 on goal. The game was a physical affair with 23 total fouls.

HSU is now 0-2 on the year and Trinity improved to 1-1. HSU plays Southwestern at 5 p.m. on Saturday and Trinity will play Texas-Dallas at 3 p.m. Saturday.
