Nuts 'N Bolts: Bring you the Texas Tech-Texas preview
Texas Tech (7-4, 4-4 Big 12) at Texas (7-3, 6-1), 6:30 p.m. CT Thursday (FOX Sports 1)
Line: Texas by 4½.
Series Record: Texas leads 47-15.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
The Longhorns still have shot at Big 12 title if they win final two games and Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma on Dec. 7. Texas hasn't won Big 12 since 2009 and is just 17-16 in league play since. A conference title may be only way to end speculation over coach Mack Brown's job. The Red Raiders are trying to snap four-game losing streak after 7-0 start.
Texas running back Malcolm Brown, bruiser with team-high nine touchdowns, will be up against Texas Tech defensive line that is giving up nearly 300 yards rushing per game. If Brown can lure linebackers and safeties to line of scrimmage, Texas will try to hurt Texas Tech with play-action passes to speed threats Mike Davis and Kendall Sanders.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Texas Tech: TE/WR Jace Amaro has 92 catches for 1,157 yards and six touchdowns in nation's No. 1 passing offense. That's most receptions by Red Raiders player since Michael Crabtree had 113 in 2007.
Texas: Case McCoy plays final home game for McCoy family legacy at Texas. McCoy spurred Texas' six-game win streak, then threw three interceptions - including one returned for touchdown - against Oklahoma State. Texas needs him to be mistake-free to stay in contention for Big 12 title.
