War Hawks Fall in Four Sets

ABILENE, Texas -

Dallas Baptist University upended McMurry University 3-1 (18-25, 24-26, 25-16, 12-25) in Heartland Conference action Saturday afternoon at Kimbrell Arena.

McM was led by senior Kasi Conners (Abilene, Texas/Abilene HS). The middle blocker finished with a team-high 25 kills and a .321 hitting percentage. Senior Peyton Evans (Riverton, Utah/Western Texas College), junior Kayla Hines (Robinson, Texas/Robinson HS) and sophomore Catherine Heath (Libery Hill, Texas/Liberty Hill HS) contributed nine kills apiece.

Evans had a match-high 26 assists and helped out with 11 digs.

Sophomore Ayssa Garcia (San Antonio, Texas/Johnson HS) had 11 digs from the libero position.

Tadam Mergener had a match-high 16 kills to lead DBU (6-10, 4-3 Heartland).

The War Hawks (6-10, 4-3 Heartland) return to action Oct. 8 for a nonconference bout against the University of the Southwest. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Kimbrell Arena.
