LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana -

Playing on a course soaked by heavy rains over the last few days, the ACU Wildcats scratched out a 36-hole total of 590 on Monday and find themselves 27 strokes off the pace heading into Tuesday's final round of the 51st annual Moe O'Brien Intercollegiate golf tournament.

The course par-72, 6,764-yard Lake Charles Country Club was doused by almost one inch of rain over the previous 24 hours, slowing play and making playing conditions tough for each of the 13 teams in the field.

The host Cowboys from McNeese State fired rounds of 289-274 for a 563 total and carries the lead and an 11-stroke lead over second-place Texas-Pan American (290-284–574) into Tuesday's final 18 holes. Stephen F. Austin is third at 575 with Incarnate Word in fourth at 587 and ACU tied with Nicholls State for fifth at 590.

The Wildcats started their day by shooting an 8-over-par 296, and finished up the first day with a 6-over-par 294 for a 14-over-par 590. Nicholls State shot rounds of 303-287 for its 590 total.

ACU junior Corbin Renner is tied for eighth in the individual medalist standings at 2-under-par 142 after posting rounds of 1-over-par 73 and 3-under-par 69. Kaden Walters is tied for 22nd at 4-over-par 148 (73-75), while Trey Sullivan is tied for 29th at 5-over-par 149 (72-77).
