ABILENE, Texas -

We'll see winterlike temperatures Monday followed by a return of the warmer weather.

After a sub-freezing start to the work week, we'll warm into the low 50s Monday afternoon. Look for plenty of sunshine and northeast winds at 5 to 10. Overnight, temperatures will fall below the freezing mark again. Lows by Tuesday will be into the upper 20s.

Sunny skies stay with us Tuesday, along with a warmer afternoon. We'll see highs in the low 60s before cooling to around 40 overnight.

It seems like the cold weather is out of the forecast after that. Mild temperatures return Wednesday as we warm into the mid to upper 60s. We'r also tracking an increase in cloud cover Wednesday night as we cool to around 50.

By Thursday morning, mostly cloudy skies will be present thanks to a return of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Highs Thursday will climb to around 70. Thursday the dryline will set up to our west. A disturbance will pass across the state resulting in showers and isolated thunderstorms for our region.

Friday, we'll keep the clouds in the forecast. Temperatures start around the mid 50s before warming into the mid 70s. Rain chances return overnight thanks to another disturbance that will play off of the moist environment.

The weekend begins with temperatures in the upper 50s. We'll see cloudy skies but temperatures will still warm to around 80. Shower chances return to the forecast overnight as we cool into the mid 50s. Highs will warm into the low 80s to end the weekend.
