ABILENE, Texas -

A strong upper level disturbance brings rain chances for the week ahead.

For tonight, though, we'll keep things dry but another freeze is expected. We'll start your Monday with  mostly clear skies and the mid 20s.

Ahead of that upper level disturbance we will see an increase in cloud cover but highs will still manage to reach the upper 50s.

Overnight on Monday, we're tracking the showers to begin in the southern portion of the state and work north.

Tuesday starts out in the mid 30s thanks to cloudy skies. Throughout the day the rain chances will increase with much of the area experiencing showers by the end of the afternoon. Highs will stay on the cool side, warming into the upper 40s.

The showers and thunderstorms continue overnight with temperatures falling to around 40 degrees.

After a wet start to Wednesday, the rain will continue throughout the day. Highs warm into the upper 40s and low 50s. The upper level disturbance will begin lifting off to the northeast overnight on Wednesday but rain chances will stay with us into Thursday.

Things start in the mid 40s Thursday with highs warming to around 60.

Despite morning showers, we'll see some clearing as drier air begins to infiltrate the area during the day.

Friday won't feel much like January at all with afternoon temps warming into the upper 60s. We keep clear skies in the forecast heading into the weekend.

We're tracking a cold front that looks to drop into the area Saturday making for afternoon temps, only in the low 50s.

A freeze is ahead Saturday night as we cool into the chilly mid 20s.

There is a very slight chance for rain overnight Saturday as that front continues to move through. We'll continue to track that system for you and bring updates.
