Rain chances in the forecast for the week ahead

ABILENE, Texas -

A disturbance will bring good rain chances to the area Monday night.

Before that, look for an increase in cloud cover overnight Sunday. Temperatures will cool down into the mid 30s.

Throughout the day on Monday,a good mix of clouds and sun with highs warming into the low 60s.

Monday night, a disturbance will begin to near the area, bringing a surge of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Showers and thundershowers will develop overnight on Monday with lows falling into the mid 40s.

Tuesday, the rain chances stay with us as that disturbance moves across the state. Thanks to the showers and clouds, we'll see much cooler temps with highs Tuesday in the mid 50s.

Tuesday night, look for an end to the rain. Northwest flow will make for a cool evening as lows fall into the low to mid 30s.

High pressure will build into the area Wednesday making for clear skies and slightly warmer weather. Highs will top out in the low 60s with a northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph.

We cool down into th e mid 30s under clear skies at night before warming into the low 60s, once again, by Thursday afternoon.

Changes begin to take shape Thursday night as a cold front drops through from the north.

Temperatures Friday morning are expected in the low 30s, with some likely falling below freezing.

We keep the rain chances out but some clouds are expected Friday afternoon. The cooler air behind the front will keep things much cooler than the day before with highs in the low 50s.

Friday night, we're back into the low 30s under mostly cloudy skies.

Saturday, we'll see mostly sunny skies with temps in the mid 50s by the afternoon. We'll cool into the mid 30s overnight before warming to near 60 on Sunday.
