ABILENE, Texas -

Storms containing strong winds and large hail hit parts of the Big Country on Saturday.

An upper level storm system in the Plains sparked severe storms across much of the Central portions of the U.S. Saturday afternoon and evening.

That system sparked isolated severe storms in our area as well.

A severe storm hit Abilene around 6 p.m. dropping up to quarter size hail and bringing strong winds.

Dyess reported wind gusts to 58 mph with that same storm cell.

A storm in Haskell county dropped up to golf-ball size hail in Paint Creek and that same strong cell had a tornado warning issued for it.

In Tom Green County near Buffalo Heights there was reports of golf-ball size hail.

The storm chances for the rest of Saturday night are dwindling and by Sunday morning there is just a slight chance of a few showers in our southeastern areas.

Sunday afternoon will be nice with light north winds a mostly sunny sky and temps near 80 degrees.

Mostly clear and cool Sunday night as we drop down to around 50.

Mostly sunny to start off the workweek as well with temps in the low 80s.
