The cold weather just keeps coming

ABILENE, Texas -

Winter temperatures return to the forecast almost weekly but last April, it was a much different story.

During the month of April 2012, we set eight record high temperatures. The record set on the 25th by a high of 104 degrees, ended up being the record hottest month for any April day on record.

Fast forward a year and you've got a year that can't seem to shake the cold weather. Our most recent cold snap caught many of us off guard.

During lunchtime, temperatures were still hanging in the 40s and a popular downtown picnic spot, Everman Park, was deserted.

Emily Narayan, a cold weather lover, is ready for some consistency. "I like the cold weather, I just wish that it would get warm or cold and stay that way or just be nice for awhile" says Narayan.

For some, this quick temperature turnaround is nothing new. "I think this is typical west Texas, this is the way it should be" says Don Aslin, who doesn't have a problem with the chilly temps.

Others feel that this up-and-down weather pattern is bad for their health. "Everybody's gonna be sick forever because it keeps changing" says Gary Varner.

Warmer weather is in the forecast. In the meantime though, Big Country residents can just bundle up and muddle through until the mercury rebounds.
