ABILENE, Texas -

We're tracking high pressure that will stay put over the area for much of the week ahead, making for unseasonably cold temperatures.

Sunday night, we'll see an increase in cloud cover through the evening with mostly cloudy skies by Monday morning.

Temperatures will plummet into the upper teens and low 20s before sunrise. With a sharp northeast wind, it will feel more like the single digits.

After a chilly start to the day, we'll see a very modest warm up throughout the afternoon. Look for highs in the upper 30s and low 40s. Clouds will dissipate somewhat with partly cloudy skies by the afternoon.

Overnight, another hard freeze is in the forecast with a nearly identical story to the night before. Lows by Tuesday morning will dip into the upper teens and low 20s.

Tuesday, highs climb into the upper 30s and low 40s under partly cloudy skies.

Overnight on Tuesday, we'll cool into the low 20s but warmer conditions are in store for Wednesday.

We'll see the system that's kept high pressure over the Central Plains begin to move east.

With this, we may see some showers during the day on Wednesday and into the evening hours. With freezing temperatures in the forecast, there may be a chance for some wintry precipitation. We'll continue to track those precipitation chance and update the forecast as needed.

Wednesday night, we're back into the low to upper 20s before warming to the low 50s Thursday afternoon.

Our warming trend continues Friday as temperatures rise into the mid 50s.

The weekend starts with chilly, but near normal, tempeartures. We begin the day around 33 degrees before warming into the upper 50s.

We're tracking our next cold front that looks to slide into the area overnight on Saturday. Here it looks to stall out, not bringing us much in the way of rain chances.

We start Sunday a few degrees cooler, around 31, before seeing highs in the afternoon around 57.
