Tracking Tuesday showers

Published On: Feb 11 2013 10:59:57 PM CST
ABILENE, Texas -

A fairly strong upper level disturbance is moving into our region Monday night.  This will bring scattered showers to our area for Tuesday morning.  Unfortunately, rainfall amounts look to be less that one quarter of an inch.

Significant snowfall is forecast for the northern Texas panhandle - north of Lubbock and for northwest Oklahoma for Tuesday.  We could see a rain / snow mix in our northern counties of King and Knox late Tuesday afternoon.

Look for mostly cloudy skies and windy conditions for the rest of our area Tuesday afternoon.  High temperatures will range from the middle 40s in our northern areas to around 60 in the Concho Valley and Heartland.  In Abilene we are forecasting the high temperature to be in the lower 50s for Tuesday.

Skies should clear Tuesday evening and a freeze is forecast for Wednesday morning.  Low temperatures should be in the upper 20s to low 30s.  Sunshine is back for Wednesday with high temperatures around 60.

Quiet weather is expected for Valentine's Day Thursday.  Enjoy sunshine with high temperatures in the low to middle 60s.

Another cold front is forecast to move in early Friday and bring back some clouds and cooler temperatures for Friday.  Dry weather with cold mornings and mild afternoons are expected for the weekend.
