ABILENE, Texas -

Temperatures should jump back to to near 70 Friday afternoon with strong southwest winds at 20-30 mph.  An approaching cold front will help to create these strong winds.

The cold front is forecast to move in Friday night and bring back cloudy skies and noticeably cooler temperatures for Saturday.  Light rain showers will even be possible for areas mainly east of Abilene during the day Saturday.  Look for high temperatures to try to reach 50 Saturday afternoon.

An even stronger surge of cold air is forecast to move in Saturday night.  This should bring clearing skies and much below normal temperatures for Sunday.  Look for lows in the lower 20s Sunday morning with highs only around 40 Sunday afternoon.

Low temperatures are forecast to be around 20 Monday and Tuesday mornings.  High temperatures with struggle to reach the lower 40s both days.  Warming temperatures are expected for Wednesday.

Upper level disturbances moving through the region Monday through Wednesday will bring mostly clouds skies.  Right now, we are keeping the forecast dry for early next week.
