ABILENE, Texas -

After a pleasant start to the weekend we're tracking a chilly night ahead.

A cold front will sweep through the area before midnight but we'll keep clear skies in the forecast.

Sunday starts out below freezing with many in the low to mid 20s.

With sunny skies expected temperatures will warm into the low 50s to round out your weekend.

For the start of the work week we'll see partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the morning in the upper 20s before warming into the mid 50s.

Changes begin to take shape after midnight as an upper level disturbance nears the area.

There is a good chance for rain before sunrise Tuesday with temperatures in the mid 30s.

Cloudy skies and widespread showers stay with us during the day Tuesday with highs struggling to warm into the upper 40s.

The rain continues as the system traverses our area Tuesday night. We cool off to around 40 degrees before sunrise on Wednesday.

Look for a 30% chance for rain on Wednesday with highs in the low 50s.

We'll see the rain clearing out Wednesday night with lows falling into the upper 30s.

Look for mostly clear skies and dry weather heading toward the end of the work week with temperatures near 70 by Friday afternoon.
