Turning colder Sunday
We have been tracking some very cold air in western Canada. It is currently moving south and should be blowing into our region during the day Sunday.
Before that cold air arrives, look for one more mild day. Saturday afternoon temperatures should be in the 70s under partly cloudy skies.
We recommend that you use this mild day Saturday to make sure your exposed water pipes are protected and that your outdoor pets will have a warm, dry place to stay beginning Sunday night.
Partly cloudy skies are forecast for Sunday with high temperatures in the 50s. However, strong north winds at 20 mph with higher gusts will push wind chill values into the 40s.
An upper level disturbance is forecast to move through our region early Monday morning. It will bring back clouds for Sunday night.
We could see some light snow fall early Monday morning in the Big Country. However, no significant accumulations are expected at this time. Low temperatures Monday morning should be around 30.
Sunny skies should be with us again by late morning Monday, but high temperatures should only climb into the middle 40s Monday afternoon.
A hard freeze is forecast for Tuesday morning with lows in the lower 20s. About 12 hours of freezing temperatures are expected.
