ABILENE, Texas -

Good Tuesday! We have been tracking a drizzle / mist and continuing locally dense fog especially around the I-20 corridor early this morning but the wet weather is quickly shifting off to the east. Breaks for sunshine are in the forecast this afternoon as we go along with highs getting up near 50 degrees. South southeast winds at 10-15mph will shift to the west and eventually north through the day.

This evening a cold front comes charging through the Big Country and drops overnight lows into the middle 20s. Clouds will increase behind the front but no precipitation is expected. Wind chills will be in the lower teens by Wednesday morning.

Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Wednesday afternoon as temperatures make it no higher than the upper 20s. Northerly breezes at 15-20mph will make it feel very winter-like outside.

Wednesday night gets very cold and much below normal with the mercury falling into the lower and middle teens. Blustery north winds will have chills in the single digits.

Thursday morning a period of light snow or flurries is possible under cloudy skies particularly across the northern half of our viewing area. At this time, little if any accumulation is expected. Extremely chilly afternoon readings will not rise out of the middle 20s.

More clouds than sun are predicted for Friday as the thermometer makes a bit of progress into the middle and upper 30s. A weather impulse traveling to our north has a slight chance of producing some light precipitation late morning into the afternoon. We will watch this on future forecast cycles.

A cold front is still on track to move in on Saturday but its arrival time has been pushed back several hours. This will allow for a milder day in the upper 40s before colder air blows in and takes overnight lows down into the lower 20s.

Look for partly cloudy skies for the back half of the weekend as temperatures remain quite chilly in the lower 40s.

More substantial warming is likely for Monday with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs should climb into the lower to mid 50s.
