ABILENE, Texas -

More sunshine is what we have in the forecast for today. There will be a few high clouds that move in through the afternoon hours but strong sunshine is expected on this Wednesday. High temperatures will make it up around 70 degrees. Southerly winds become a bit breezier today at 10-20mph.

Tonight increased cloud cover will keep temperatures very mild into the overnight with lows only dropping into the lower 50s. Expect breezy conditions to continue.

Thursday we start the day with some clouds but increasing sunshine is projected into the afternoon. High temperatures will soar towards the lower and middle 70s before all is said and done. South winds will crank a bit more from 15-25 and gusting to 30 mph.

A cold front is still predicted to move into West Central Texas early on Friday and bring with it cooler readings which will take at least some of us down to more seasonal values. The cold front will likely stall through the viewing area and thus create quite a temperature spread across our region.

The Big Country will see highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s on Friday while southern locations such as the Concho Valley may keep temperatures in the middle 60s. Clouds will lower and thicken by Friday evening.

Showers become possible in the evening hours of Friday, but the best rain chances emerge overnight into Saturday morning and early afternoon. Cloud cover and expected precipitation keeps the mercury from rising much higher than about 50 degrees for the first half of the weekend.

The area of wet weather departs Saturday evening leaving mostly cloudy skies. A decrease in clouds is forecasted for Sunday but temperatures will be chilly in the middle 40s for most of us.

Sunshine returns for Monday and for Christmas Eve on Tuesday. A strong cold front may be in our vicinity on Christmas Day with much cooler temperatures to follow. We will be tracking it.
