Anthony Domol: Strong Tuesday PM warming
Updated On: Oct 08 2013 04:51:41 AM CDT
Today we look for mostly sunny skies with some high clouds potentially moving in during the mid-morning hours.
High temperatures will reach the middle 80s as our latest warming trend gains a foothold over the region. Southerly winds will begin today and last for several days going forward becoming breezier in the days ahead. This will act to slowly but surely bring Gulf of Mexico moisture back into play for our area.
Eventually, by the weekend, a cold front will approach and try to act on the moisture in place. This we will have to track closely in the days ahead as showers and thundershowers may come in waves and affect us from Saturday on into early next week. The specifics on this will become clearer in the days ahead.
Tonight clear weather conditions will rule right on into Wednesday morning. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 50s.
Wednesday we expect lots of sunshine with just a few fair weather cumulus clouds possible during the afternoon hours. No rainfall is in the offing and temperatures are expected to reach into the middle 80s. South winds will increase to 10-15 mph.
Wednesday night mostly fair skies will be in the forecast as lows remain a little milder around 60 degrees.
Thursday and Friday we will watch increasing levels of moisture being transported northward into West Texas via breezy 10-20 mph southerly winds. Skies will be partly cloudy on both afternoons. Enough sunshine will be seen, however, to move temperatures into the middle 80s. A dryline thundershower cannot be ruled out on Friday afternoon and evening especially in western sections, but most of us will stay dry.
Saturday it appears the cold front will near us from the north and try to trigger some afternoon showers and thundershowers. Highs will be in the lower 80s.
The front should clear the area overnight Saturday into Sunday and leave us with a period of drying before the front tries to retreat northward with additional rainfall chances Monday and Tuesday. Look for readings around 80 degrees on average heading into next week.
