Anthony Domol: Tracking wetter and cooler conditions
Updated On: Oct 11 2013 09:22:21 AM CDT
The weather pattern is about to turn wetter and cooler over the next several days.
Today we expect partly cloudy skies and the warmest day of our work week. Readings look to climb up to 87 degrees this afternoon accompanied by breezy conditions. Winds will blow from the southwest at 15-20 mph.
Tonight variably cloudy skies will be common across West Central Texas. Low temperatures will be headed for the middle 60s.
Saturday we do expect to see some peaks of sun and many hours will stay rain free particularly the farther north and west you reside in our viewing area. Clouds will be building into the afternoon and evening hours. Moisture will increase from the south and slight shower chances will become possible as early as late morning in areas like Brownwood, Brady, and Coleman. Rain chances will then increase for points north and west through our region as the afternoon wears on and turns to evening. Highs will be in the middle 80s for most locations. A few stronger storms cannot be ruled out across West Texas on Saturday evening.
Our best rain chances by far, however, look to be later Saturday night, Sunday, and on into Monday. Some locally heavy downpours are very possible and we will be monitoring the radar over the next couple of days as the showers and storms approach. Lows Saturday night will be in the mid 60s, highs on Sunday in the upper 70s to near 80, and highs on Monday will be very close to 80 degrees.
Scattered showers and thundershowers will remain possible into Monday night and the first half of Tuesday but should conclude shortly thereafter. Much cooler air will settle into the area on Tuesday with highs in the lower to mid 70s.
Sunny skies are in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday with below normal temperatures near 70 degrees.
