ABILENE, Texas -

Good Monday morning! The quiet late fall weather pattern continues today with blue skies expected across all of West Central Texas. Highs will be a bit warmer this afternoon in the middle 60s. Southwest winds will blow from 5-10mph.

Tonight we cool it down into the mid 30s under a mostly clear sky. High pressure remains in control.

Sunshine looks to dominate Tuesday as well with readings pushing into the middle and upper 60s. Rain chances remain remote as no important weather systems appear nearby. Minimal cloud cover is expected.

Wednesday and Thursday will see a gradual increase in high cloudiness from the west but no rainfall is predicted. Wednesday will be mostly sunny while Thursday looks to be only partly sunny. Afternoon temperatures are aimed for the upper 60s on Wednesday and the lower 70s on Thursday.

Changes begin to occur on Friday with the advancement of a new cold front into the area. This will keep temperatures relegated to the lower 50s. Clouds begin to lower and thicken later in the day as we track a new wave of low pressure developing in the southwestern United States.

Rain appears most likely to break out from west to east late day Friday and especially into the early morning hours of Saturday. The mercury will remain well above freezing thus precipitation stays in the liquid form through Saturday evening. Expect chilly highs in the middle 40s for the first half of the weekend.

As the system starts to pull off to our north and east later Saturday and strengthen, it will drag a strong cold front down through our region and sets up a Sunday forecast which only sees us climbing into the middle and upper 30s for highs across West Texas.
