Heavy rain possible to start the work week

ABILENE, Texas -

Showers will bring up to 2 inches of rain to the area through Monday afternoon.

Sunday evening, showers will become more widespread, with flash flooding possible.

Flash Flood Watches are in effect for most of the region through Monday morning and afternoon.

Monday morning starts out with showery weather and temps in the mid 60s.

We'll warm up to the upper 70s through the afternoon.

Most of the rain will be seen in the morning with a bit of a dry out during the late afternoon.

Tuesday we're tracking a cold front that will move through around lunchtime. We'll only see highs in the mid 60s with a 60% chance for showers and t'storms.

The rain chances will linger overnight as lows cool to around 50 degrees.

A 20% chance for rain is on tap Wednesday morning with highs making it to around 61.

A cool night is in store for Wednesday night with lows in the mid 40s. Highs Thursday will warm into the upper 60s with nighttime lows dropping back into the upper 40s.

Friday and into the weekend, we're tracking mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 70s. Low temperatures at night will cool into the low to mid 50s.
