ABILENE, Texas -

Southeast winds returned to our region Tuesday afternoon and they should continue through Tuesday night.  These winds will help to keep temperatures above freezing over our region for Wednesday morning.

Most areas should have Wednesday morning low temperatures around 40.  However, in wind protected areas of the Heartland, temperatures may fall in the lower to middle 30s Wednesday morning.

Watch out for fairly strong south winds around 25 mph during the day Wednesday.  Wildfire danger will be going back up due to these winds and still dry air.  Look for afternoon temperatures back up in the lower 70s.

Low clouds are forecast to return Wednesday night with higher humidity air moving back in.  Low temperatures Thursday morning should be in the lower 50s.

An upper level disturbance is forecast to move through our region during the day Thursday.  This should trigger scattered showers with thunderstorms possible for mainly our eastern counties Thursday afternoon.  High temperatures Thursday should be in the 60s.

Dry weather is expected for Thursday night and Friday.  A larger upper level system is forecast to move slowly through our region Saturday and Saturday night.  This should bring an even better chance of showers and thunderstorms to our entire area for Saturday and especially Saturday night.

The current thinking is that the heavy showers and thunderstorms will likely be east of our area by sunrise Sunday.  We are forecasting just a slight chance of more showers during the day Sunday.
