Mark Rowlett: Warm and windy weekend
A strong low pressure area developing in the central U.S. will help create strong south and southwest winds over our region Saturday. Steady winds should be around 20 mph for much of the day Saturday. Gusts in the 30 mph range are expected.
Winds should die down some Saturday night to around 15-20 mph. Watch out for west winds around 20 mph again Sunday.
We are tracking a cold front that should move through our region Sunday night and bring back cooler temperatures for the early part of the week ahead.
Until then, well above normal temperatures will be found for Saturday and Sunday. Morning lows should be in the upper 50s and afternoon highs are expected to be around 80 both days. Look for highs in the 60s Monday through Wednesday.
A light shower is possible before sunrise Saturday. Otherwise, dry weather is expected into Tuesday.
