Mark Rowlett: Warm Wednesday, windy Thursday
Updated On: Feb 19 2014 07:26:17 AM CST
Very warm air returned to our region Tuesday. It should stay with us through Wednesday.
Low temperatures Wednesday morning should be in the 50s. Look for Wednesday afternoon temperatures back into the lower 80s under partly cloudy skies.
Mild air should continue into Wednesday night with lows in the 50s again. Mostly cloudy skies are forecast.
A strong cold front should blow in Thursday and bring clearing skies and strong north winds. Unfortunately, no rain is expected. Winds are forecast to be in the 20 to 30 mph range with higher gusts Thursday.
These winds combined with very dry air and already dry vegetation will lead to high wildfire danger for the daytime Thursday. Red Flag Warnings will likely be issued for the daylight hours Thursday. That means no outdoor burning.
Winds should come down Thursday night as well as temperatures. Lows Friday morning should be in the lower 30s. Some areas could have a light freeze.
Sunny skies and south winds are back with us for Friday. Afternoon temperatures should be back up around 70.
Yet another cold front is forecast to move through dry Saturday morning. Partly cloudy skies are expected for both Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures in the 60s.
