ABILENE, Texas -

Look for a potent cold front to enter the Big Country Wednesday afternoon bringing with it much colder temperatures and storm chances.

Highs on Wednesday will reach into the upper 80s in Abilene with south winds from 10-15 mph.

By the late afternoon winds will shift to the north and pick up blowing from 15-25 mph overnight.

Strong to severe storms will be possible along the cold front Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night.

Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats with these storms.

Temps Wednesday night will drop to about 40 degrees!

Clouds stay put on Thursday and with strong north winds at 20-30 mph temps will only reach to about 50 in Abilene.

As an upper level trough of low pressure moves across the Plains we will track the chance to see on and off showers throughout the day.
