ABILENE, Texas -

The strong cold front that blow in Wednesday night brought a cloudy, windy and cold Thursday.  The high temperature in Abilene was only 52 degrees.  This was the coldest high temperature on record for May 2nd in Abilene.  The old record was 55 degrees.  More records are in jeopardy for May 3rd.

The current record low temperature for Abilene is 37 for May 3rd.  We are forecasting temperatures to fall to 32 degrees Friday morning.  This temperature would set a new low temperature record for May 3rd.  It would also become the coldest temperature ever recorded in the month of May in Abilene and the latest spring freeze on record.

After this very cold start, look for temperatures to climb into the middle 60s with nice sunshine Friday.  Fair skies with lows around 40 are forecast for Friday night.

Gradually warming temperatures are expected for the weekend and early next week with dry weather.
