Chelsea Humphrey: Temperatures back above freezing Tuesday afternoon
Updated On: Dec 10 2013 09:19:29 AM CST
Despite a frigid start to the morning, we'll see afternoon highs above freezing this afternoon.
Highs Tuesday will top out around 40 degrees. That's enough to melt ice on most highways and feeder roads but some of the less traveled roads won't thaw out completely.
This evening, freezing temps are back with us as lows cool into the mid to upper 20s. Any moisture on the roads will refreeze so use caution if you're traveling.
Wednesday, we're tracking sunny skies early with highs around 40 degrees. A cold front will move in around lunchtime. With little moisture to work with, rain chances will stay out of the forecast.
During the afternoon, moisture from the west will bring about an increase in cloud cover. Lows overnight will cool into the mid 20s.
Thursday starts out cloudy and stays that way. We'll see highs around the low 40s for much of the area.
Rain chances increase Thursday night as a disturbance nears West Texas. Friday will be the first morning above freezing in the mid 30s.
Shower chances will stick around through the morning but fall off throughout the afternoon as the disturbance moves west. Highs will warm into the upper 50s.
A cold front moves through Friday night with lows starting out in the low 30s Saturday morning.
Saturday, we're tracking sunny skies with highs around 50 degrees.
Sunday morning we're back below freezing with clear skies and lows in the upper 20s.
Sunday afternoon we'll see highs around 55 degrees and clear skies.
Monday morning we'll start out in the low 30s before highs warm to near 60.
